To start this blog off, I'll just post the proposal...I'm going to go do some laundry and clean my macbook up. It's wear is starting to show...sigh, good buddy macbook....
The night started when everyone(Ian, Amber, Nathan, Brigitte, Jocelynn, Andy, Erin, Katie, Claudia, Jake, Audra, Justin, Jeff, and I) went out to dinner; it appeared to be a nice get together to hang out and have a party for Katie, who was back from Thailand for a short while. We all met at Jeff and Andy's apartment to do a head count and make reservations, then drove down to Denver. During that time Jeff was running around the apartment putting stuff in his bag while the rest of us were watching a movie; all I thought he was doing was bringing some extra hoodies for me, because he told me that after dinner everyone was going to walk around Denver for a bit, and it was 15 degrees out! Again, because we hang out with a group that does crazy random things for fun, that didn't cross my mind as strange. During the ride to PF Chang's, Jocelynn mentioned that it was great everyone could hang out together for once; it was a big group that went after all! I agreed and was oblivious that everyone knew what was going on and what was going to happen.
After dinner, we got some hot tea and the whole group walked up to a structure around the Platte river. Jeff had told me earlier that everyone just wanted to take pictures and hang out, so that's why I thought we were there, it was insanely cold out and everyone was doing a great job at taking pictures of each other and walking to stay warm! Jeff and I went ahead of the group and walked over to the structure. We talked about some random things as we walked up the stairs; when we reached the top he suggested that we should go sit on one of the lit benches. It was dark and there were random lights in the benches and shining up at the pinnacle and it's cables. We sat down and tried to warm up a bit ( I was relieved to just sit because my feet were sore from working that morning, and the cold didn't help my knees either) It was a good moment just sitting together, I didn't think anything about why we were up there other than Jeff wanted me to see the structure and the city at night, and spend some time together. Then the rest of the group came up and Ian came over and took a picture of us...after he walked off, Jeff asked me why I wanted to marry him (we have had this conversation before, and I reminded him why I wanted to).. He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, then he said he wanted to show me something--so we got up and pulled a box out of his bag! It was fairly large, so I didn't know what it was at first. Then he got down on one knee, opened the box (and there was my ring with a small light shining on it!) and asked me to marry him! I was in shock and stared at him for a moment, trying to take in every part of the moment with him, I was smiling so huge and I tried to speak but no words came out, then i said yes of course! He put the ring on my finger, and it fit beautifully! It is so beautiful, white gold with six diamonds on either side of one larger diamond. He picked the perfect ring out! I was ecstatic and he was smiling and laughing, I was too and everyone took pictures of everything. I thought it was great that I was oblivious to the whole setup, while my parents and everyone else who came with us knew! It was AMAZING!!!
We'll keep you posted about wedding plans and such. Thank you for all of your kind well wishes and prayers as well! Thank you everyone who came and celebrated with us last night, it was wonderful!!!
